Podcast Camp in English

Nordic Podcast Conference | Struer Tracks edition

August 23-25, 2023
Struer City of Sound, Denmark

Join fellow podcast enthusiasts from Denmark and abroad on this three-day storytelling themed podcast course, led by podcasters, producers and experienced podcast trainers Dorte Palle and Tor Arnbjørn.
About the course

In connection with the biannual sound art festival Struer Tracks, and leading up to this year’s Nordic Podcast Conference, we are offering a condensed, English version of our popular podcast course.

The course focuses on concepts and content and will at the same time introduce you to technical aspects and equipment. You will be asked to bring your own podcast idea and project, which you will pitch on the first day and develop into a podcast concept during the course.

At the end of the course, we will have a common listening session, where we will hear the stories of all the course participants.

Application Deadline

Deadline for registration and deposit payment: June 30, 2023.

Deadline for final registration and full payment: July 31, 2023

Course content and learning points

The course will take you through the following learning points:
Introduction to current trends within podcasting

  • How to pick and choose between different podcast formats
  • Choosing the right format to suit your audience and your content
  • How to turn a small idea into a strong podcast concept
  • Writing a podcast script that will catch and hold the attention of the listener
  • Choosing the right equipment for your recording
  • Planning and organising your recordings
  • Interview techniques
  • How to write an editing script

While introducing you to the theory, we will also guide you in the practical application of the concepts, so you develop the concept for your own podcast, as we go.

Equipment

Equipment for recording and editing will be provided as part of the course. We use Tascam DR05 recording kit and Hindenburg for editing (a trial license will be issued for you on the first course day). You will learn the basics, so you are ready to produce on your own.

Who is the course for?

The course is for all podcast enthusiasts – beginners as well as experienced. It can help you get started with podcasting, but it could also be relevant for those who already have some experience from podcasting or other platforms, and who need more insight and tools to move from an idea to a strong podcast concept that is realistic to produce.

Participants might be:

  • University students of journalism, literature, sound studies and adjacent subjects
  • Freelancers who want to produce their own podcasts
  • Content creators who would like to expand their repertoire with podcasts
  • Teachers and researchers who want to turn teaching material or research into podcast learning
